letters

Regular loans to other museums and institutions allow a high turnover of the exhibits. The space of the permanent collection is organized into five departments: literature, arts, history, music and science. The pieces are presented according to a distribution: partly chronological and partly thematic.

The MLM  (Museum of Letters and Manuscripts) Brussels are presenting  a major exhibition of the unpublished manuscripts by Georges Simenon: futures exibitions. It is likely that this exhibition will reveal to you many surprises.

To celebrate the opening to the public, the museum propose an exhibition concentrates on the Belgian writer Georges Simenon, creator of the famous Inspector Maigret, the prolific author of  192 novels, 75 "Maigret" and 12 Reports of new twentieth century ..

We learn that Simenon wrote a detective novel in less than 8 days. Writing his novels at speed  gave Simenon ten days of leisure time to appreciate good wine, and then following on from this three days for making any necessary corrections. The visitors will discover the famous yellow envelopes on which the author wrote down the names of people, places, and sketches as an aide memoire ..

The Museum also includes letters and drawings by René Magritte, James Ensor, Maeterlinck, Hugo Claus ... Letters from  Victor Hugo’s exile and Baudelaire recalling that Brussels has long been a kind land of refuge for the proscribed individal. There is also correspondence written  in an admirable French by  the Russian writer Tolstoy and the German poet Goethe.

CULTURE EXPOS 2012

D'HUGO A COBRA, Bruxelles s'affiche rebelle....
